funny thing about that, i thought my draft time was at 5:30 but it was at 5... and yahoo drafted him for me at round 10 out of 13 rounds

i originally thought that this team was screwed, but now i'm having a little hope, although i'm getting beat this week rather badly because of "starbury"s performance and billups deciding that he forgot how to shoot as well

it's easier said than done to get kevin martin...

here are the list of people on my team:
billups
arenas
allen
r. wallace
diaw
barbosa
marbury
larry hughes
vince carter
luol deng
channing frye
jason terry
pau gasol

i'm in a h2h league with the following categories:
fgm, fg%, ftm, ft%, 3pm, pts, oreb, dreb, ast, st, blk, to, a/t

i'm trying to win everything but oreb, dreb, and blks

so should i drop deng or frye or barbosa for kevin martin? gasol even? but i'm trying to use him as trade bait... i can't decide who to drop!

jeremy - i wouldn't drop any of your current players for players on your watch list

Okay, so here is my fantasy team that I drafted. I ended up with the 1st pick, which I didn't want, because I wanted to follow a strict PG/C strategy for the first six picks. Unfortunately, some players dropped and I couldn't let them slide:

1. (1) LeBron James F
2. (20) Paul Pierce G,F
3. (21) Joe Johnson PG
4. (40) Marcus Camby C
5. (41) Mike Bibby PG
6. (60) Chris Kaman C
7. (61) Jameer Nelson PG
8. (80) Larry Hughes G
9. (81) Darko Milicic PF,C
10. (100) Zaza Pachulia PF,C
11. (101) Andre Miller PG
12. (120) Kevin Martin G
13. (121) Nenad Krstic PF,C
14. (140) Deron Williams PG
15. (141) Chris Wilcox PF,C

Just so you're aware, this league is in a 10-team, 12-cat H2H league. So, as you can see, my draft strategy was shot. I was hoping I could get Jermaine at 20 but he went too early, and then Pierce was still there so that was a no-brainer. T-Mac was also available, but I'm scared away by his comments about his back pain, so I went for J.Johnson instead. The next time around, I knew that I had to get a center, as Boozer/Okur and others were already off the board. I went with Camby because he's a monster when healthy, and then Bibby becuase he slid.

I swear, that in the "SF tier" where there was Caron Butler, Mo Petterson..etc. they ALL went between 41-61...rediculous. Overall, the only picks I'm mad about is that (1) I took Zaza....whom we'll see how that turns out. (2) Jameer seems to get his time eaten by Arroyo, which will piss me off to no end, (3) I didn't grab Nazr Mohommed in the last round when I had the opportunity. I think he'll end up with much better stats than Wilcox, and I'm definately frustrated that I didn't take a guy who'll be averaging 10/10 with a block that late.

Other than that, my team seems pretty good, though every team in our league seems pretty stacked this year, with everyone having lots of sleepers (like Baron Davis going in like the 8th round I think).

Anyways, let me know what you think..

ALSO: These are the guys currently on my "watch" list. Would you drop any of my current players for them?:

Bobby Simmons.
Cuttino Mobley.
Sebastian Telfair
Jarret Jack
Anthony Parker.
Martell Webster.

I guess one more important aspect is that my league goes PG,G,G,F,F,PF,C,C,Util,Util, so there isn't a big crunch on the swingmen (I can use a PG or a PF/C for my entire lineup).

Anyways, any advice is always appreciated.

two statlines

51.7 FG% - 11.0 PTS - 8.3 REB - 27 min/gm
52.3 FG% - 15.5 PTS - 11.4 REB -34 miutes/gm

now some of you wont like what i have to say here, but its something to read :).

the first stat is sean may this season. the second is carlos boozers sophmore year with the cavaleirs back in 03-04. these two have very similar games and i think if may can get 5 more minutes of run each game (even when brezec comes back) he will be a great addition to a team needing rebs and great FG% while getting a few points.

look at boozers stats in his rookie year:

25 min. --10 pts -- 7.5 reb

now that is pretty much what may is putting up now, i think may can make the jump if he is given a few more minutes on a weak frontcourt that uncludes nobody other than okafor and may.

brezec is hurt right now, so i know he'll cut into minutes when he comes back, but if may proves his worth while brezec is out, brezec may become the next wally pipp.

please keep in mind that im bored and doing this for fun. im not trying to say that sean may is carlos boozer now, but rather boozer in his sophmore year. i just wanted to point out a possible trend :). opinions?

thanks for reading

I slept in, screw getting up early! I'm going to write about both Boris Diaw and Stephon Marbury more in depth for Monday's column, but I cannot recommend dropping either of them at this point. That said, grab Kevin Martin right now, for somebody. He's going to score and play big minutes all year for the Kings. Kurt Thomas has looked pretty good so far, too. He's a nice pickup, but I wouldn't get rid of Diaw yet.

wow you guys are up early for questions... i'm impressed with your dedication!

what do you think about dropping boris diaw for kurt thomas? and do you think that marbury is going to continue is .111 FG% nights?? i can't handle that anymore

kevin martin is still available in our league and i'm considering dropping marbury for him

arpit - if you want to hold on to him, it basically comes down to if you have room on your bench. if you've got the space, then by all means hold on to him. but if you run into some injuries you m ight have to let him go.

bublitchki - think about it this way. before the year started we had odom as an early third round pick. we had okur as a mid-fourth rounder, maybe even later. so obviously we feel that odom is a better value even without his awesome start. if you only start one C, i'd swing the deal (although i question if the other guy would really make that move), and go get biedrins, an FBB fave.
