bulitchki,
that makes sense with wallace, as long as Okafor can stay healthy. He hasn't proven to be durable thus far in his career....

bublitchki, that's pretty fascinating about gerald wallace, and it makes a lot of sense as well. I'm pretty surprised that ellis was available in your league, but that's a fine-up. as for garbajosa, I think he's got great potential as a C - remember, so many teams are going 'small' now that a 6-9 C isn't at much of a height disadvantage!

Call me crazy...

When I saw Baron Davis leave tonight's game with a rib injury, I flew to the keyboard and scooped up Monta Ellis (who finished up with a 31/7/7)

Ellis has been on my watch list for a few games now and the not unexpected Davis injury was all the prompting I needed to make the move.

Now, here comes the crazy part:

Contrary to nearly unanimous advice against it, I jettisoned Gerald Wallace to make the move. Risky, I know, but at this point - early as it is - I'm fairly confident that Wallace's numbers last year were a fluke. His so-called "slow start" this season is actually very similar to his '04-'05 season averages when he played alongside a healthy Okafor all year.

Check it out:

'04-'05: 11.1 pts/5.5 reb/2.0 ast/1.7 stl/1.3 blk
'06-'07: 10.3 pts/4.0 reb/1.6 ast/1.3 stl/0.6 blk

In other words, I'm betting that Ellis's upside (even with a healthy Davis in the lineup) will significantly exceed whatever improvements Wallace may achieve beyond his current level.

Oh yeah, one other thing:

Anyone have any thoughts on the prospects of Garbajosa who's now started 2 games in a row at C for the Raps. He seems a bit short for the position (listed at 6'9) but he put up a nice line tonight (17/10/6 2 stls, 1 blk, 1 3pm) and his only competition at the position is Rasho. Anyone think that he could he wind up being an Okur type C?

I actually like Butler overall better than Peja too - but I think for my team, having a guy who can just win me the 3 category would be better, especially when I have a ton of thiefs. That's part of the reason I want to go for Ilgauskas along with him - I agree though, overal lI think Butler is worth more than Peja.

I'd say Dampier, then Bynum as the 3rd C.. though Mohammed might be worth it since he might pick up if he hasn't fully recovered from ramadan (though it ended almost month a go, he still was fasting so he might need to get back into shape)
