Hey guys, is it time to sell high on Chauncey Billups? Ever since the C-Webb trade, Billups' assists have been down from ~8 per to 6, and the trend is at 6 games now so it's a quality-ish sample size.

Reason I ask is with the way Webber's playing, especially his tendency for the extra pass, I think he's eating up some of Billups' assists and evidence of that would be that Mike Bibby's never averaged more than ~6 APG as a King, although Bibby's problem might be a combination of the King's Princeton offense or a retrogressed inclination on passing.

Anyway, I'm pressed for more assists so might be time for me to package Billups for Steve Nash (need to keep the 3's & assists).

I agree with Andre Miller. This is the 1st year in 4 seasons I didn't draft him. He seems to fall every year because of his lack of three point shooting as a PG, but he's always solid just about everywhere else.

I got a question, would you guys trade Lebron and Bibby for Kidd and Gasol? Standard league, 12 cats, including TOs, FGM, FTM, and 3PT%

Rich -- Shaq will see his nightly 30 mpg, but it might not be until the end of February or so. That said, the Heat need to pick it up and they need Shaq to do that. I'm going to join the chorus in questioning whether he actually can, though. I think he might be (in the regular season, at least) a 16/8 player, although he looked good swatting some shots away in whatever game I saw him in recently.

I fully expect Yao to be back in March when people say he's going to be back. Pierce, I'm more skeptical. I mentioned something in a recent column about how he may have already shut it down. Based on absolutely nothing, I say he comes back for a bit and then "re-aggravates" it and shuts it down as the C's try to lock up Oden/Durant.

Jason Terry is another guy who could have easily been included in the column. I have no idea why I didn't take him instead of Marbury, although Marbury has turned it around nicely in the past month or so.

Nice article. I agree with your choices.

In retrospect, during my draft I really wish I'd gone with Jamison or Terry over R.Jefferson in the 4th round and Hamilton or Miller over J.Nelson in the 6th round...

Other dependable and perennially underrated vets who are in the top 100 on the player rater:

Battier - #37 / 28
Rasheed -#41 / 38
J.Terry - #49 / 33
R.Lewis - #4 / 37

(Rankings are for a standard 9-cat league - per game followed by cumulative)

Anyone hear news about Yao Ming or Paul Pierce? I've heard rumblings that Pierce may just sit out the rest of the year.

If that's the case, I need to know now because amazingly Delonte West is still available and I'd need to grab him soon.

Any ideas for a 2-for-1 to free up a roster spot for Delonte West? Here's my roster:

PG: Bibby, Andre Miller, Deron Williams, Mo Williams
SG: Kevin Martin, Joe Johnson
SF: LBJ, Josh Howard, Josh Smith, Pierce
PF: David West, Al Jefferson
C: Camby, Kaman, Yao Ming

None of the guys I have are very bad however, so it'll be difficult to really do a 2:1 unless I get a star player in return. Thanks for any advice.

This is a completely unrelated topic, but do you guys think Shaq will eventually play 30 mpg for the rest of the year? I'm tempted to trade for him in a h2h league to lock down 3 cats at the expense of FT%, which I think would be well worth it.

Another guy I like that is always a bargain - Udonis Haslem. He's a lower tier than the players you mentioned, but he's also always available into the 10th round or later of most drafts. Yet he always finishes at much higher value than that. Currently he stands at 67 on my BBM ratings, and is a rock steady 11/9 who shoots 50% with high 70's in FT. (Although FT is a bit down this year) He's not sexy, but he is a perfect 4th forward that you can just set and forget about. At the end of a week you have 40 points, 35 boards, 3-4 steals, 1-2 DD's, and nothing hurting you anywhere.
