Hmm, I wouldn't be so sure about that. My team is currently ranked 4th in my H2H league and there are a total of 10 teams. I did get Bibby with the first pick of the 5th round (supposed to be a "steal") and picked him over Baron Davis.

However, Bibby has been pretty much my worst player, and the guy that I rely on least. Here is my team:

PG: Deron Williams, Mo Williams, Andre Miller, Mike Bibby
SG: Joe Johnson, Kevin Martin
SF: LeBron James, Josh Howard, Paul Pierce, Josh Smith
PF: David West, Al Jefferson
C: Chris Kaman, Marcus Camby, Yao Ming

Granted, I picked up Mo Williams, Josh Smith and Yao when they were injured, and have ridden out Kaman all this time (but he has played better in recent months compared to the first few).

Okay, so some of my bigs have played worse, but only Kaman (132), West (77) and Jefferson (81) are lower on the APR than Bibby (68). However, center eligible players get a boost based on the scarcity of their positions, and I expect these three bigs to player better over the second half. Hopefully when Yao gets healthy I'll be ready to roll into the playoffs, as there is only one other team that really has the firepower to take me down.

I agree with PR, If Bibby's your worst player (while playing at a 6th round value..7th round if you count TOs), you either have a small league (6-8 teams), or a serious advantage in fantasy knowledge compared to the rest of your league's owners, and you're likely already in 1st place by a mile.

Aside from FG%, Bibby's playing much much better than anyone you'd typically find on the waiver wire ina 12-team league. Ellis is a nice find (in a 12-team league), but he's a legitimate injury risk, and plays on a team with inconsistent lineups.

I disagree that Bibby is untradeable....But you'll likely have to trade him for another seriously underperforming guy...

In my H2H league (which only has 8-teams), I was tired of Bibby's FG%, so I recently traded him for Kirilenko. Kirilenko isn't doing much this year outside of blocks and steals, but he's got a chance to shine for a few weeks with th extra touches/playing time as Boozer heals. (He even had a 4x4 the other night!)

I mainly traded for him as insurance for my best blocks guy (Camby), who's incredible when healthy (#23 ranking on BBM per game avg), but could go down at any second :-)

Here's what I don't quite understand Bublitchki... don't you have any players on your roster that are less productive than Bibby? In order to cut him loose he would have to be your worst player. I can't imagine that being the case. Plus, I think Andy makes a good point about Ellis... his value will definitely go down if/when Richardson and Davis return.

As disappointing as Bibby has been this season, he's still producing like a 6th round pick. If he's the worst player on your squad then that's a nice problem to have.

bublitchki, I agree with DM - if you've made up your mind to cut Bibby, and it sounds like you have, then I would definitely grab Ellis. You'll gain some steals and obviously FG%. Your biggest loss would probably in threes. You'd also take a hit in assists and FT%, although Monta has picked up in those cats lately.

I don't know if Ellis will maintain his current value when Richardson and Davis return since they take so many shots, but at this point I doubt he could be much worse than Bibby.

I must admit that I am one of the people that just kept thinking he'd bounce back - this level of shooting regression in a 28-year old coming off perhaps his best season still baffles me - but at this point I wouldn't blame you for cutting bait.

Definitely a high-risk/high-reward move but frankly, given your level of frustration no matter what happens after this I doubt you'd regret it all that much.

I think this might finally be the time to free yourself from the Frustration of Bibby. I still feel like it's sort of wrong to release someone who is a consensus third round pick, who is still getting his minutes and his opportunities. But the numbers don't lie, and Ellis has been considerably better than Bibby over the past month. Ellis has a tendency to get banged up, the Kings might shake things up with their roster, so there are tons of risks involved, but if you really want to cut ties, this might be the time to do it.

Two questions:

1) Who in the hell is this John Basedow character? Is he even a real person? He seems more like a cartoon character; a colorful fiction created for the purpose of bringing some much needed comic relief into the serious bidniz of fantasy hoops.

2) I've fucking had it with Bibby. I've carried his sorry ass all year; watched him sulk through long stretches of games while Artest emerged as the team leader; seen his atrocious FG% poison that category for me in several weeks.

I know he's better than this. I know I've floated the idea of dropping him a few other times on this site, only to be advised that a player of Bibby's calibre is "not droppable." Well, at this point he's certainly not tradeable either. And I don't think he turns things around unless either he or Artest is moved.

So, at long last, here's my question:

Monta Ellis is somehow still available in my league. With Baron out at least several weeks (and possibly the remainder of the season), do you think it'd be an upgrade if I dropped Bibby for Ellis?

Melo should have been on this week. He's been triple double flirting (scoring once) with the new Nuggets. He's probably the best passer on the team now.

dave, you're right, stoudemire was an omission and should probably be in there.

Scott, Bosh is at 20 on the 30-day APR and that whole team is probably over-performing right now. That said, he could have easily been at 20 on this list as well.

JM, K-Mart II is at 39 and 40 on the 30- and 60-day APR's, though admittedly I'm not counting TO's here. I agree he's had a great season, but top 20? i dunno about that.

John Baesdow, if there's a way you can twist around the various player raters to get carter into the top 20, i'm open to suggestion.
