I hope you're right BV.
I just feel like we picked Alonzo Mourning over Larry Bird. Hopefully the feeling will wear off once the season gets going and I get to watch Oden's abilities up close...

JM, Oden's gonna win you championships, it's just that simple. It's like picking Tim Duncan over Kobe Bryany. Duncan will win you championships, even if Kobe is the 'best' player in the league. I agree with the Blazers on this one.

I disagree that Ray Allen needs the ball in his hands. He's great at moving without the ball, and coming off screens for catch and shoot jumpers...I think the C's will be fun to watch - a great inside-out attack. Hopefully they can trade Ratliff's contract and Gerald Green for a starting PG or C.

That said, the trade ensures they're a playoff team for a few years, but it's not so great for the long term fortunes of the franchise. The imbalance of the smart GMs in the Western Conference (Pritchard,Buford,Presti,Kerr, etc.) and the dumb ones (Ainge,Jordan,Isiah,Mchale) is really wrecking havoc with the league these days...

Who are your fantasy sleepers for next year...?

I just started thinking about it, and a few guys that should perform better than their full-season ranking from last season:
David West, Lamarcus Aldridge, Delonte West, Rajon Rondo, Bargnani, David Lee, Vilanueva, Amir Johnson, Francisco Garcia

[...] Although Nels has already mentioned it, if you still want more NBA draft/fantasy basketball readin’, I would highly recommend Draft-o-Rama! from the Fantasy Basketblog guys. They’ve come out of their summer hibernation to give us part diary, part fantasy analysis of this year’s draft. Like most of their stuff, it’s long, intelligent, interesting, and spot on in so many ways. srExecute(); « Preview of the Summer Preview (aka Cheatsheet aka Draft Guide) [...]

I live in Portland, and am still trying to get over the Blazers passing Durant. I agreed wholeheartedly with the Sports Guy. (He (and Hollinger - both of whom recommended Durant) know a hell of a lot more about basketball than the Chad Ford's of the world...

Don't get me wrong, I'm still excited for the Blazers future, but I'm having trouble shaking the dull-pain that we just passed on the surest thing to be the next NBA star (and Finals MVP) in a long long time...

let see, i didnt want chad fords "insider" info, so i thought i'd stroll by the FBB and see what you fellas had to say. I expected nothing as it is the offseason, but here it is. My first thought was "boy, this is going to be an unproductive 15 minutes, i hope the boss doesnt come over here"

First impressions- I loved the celtics picking up ray allen. I read the ESPN discussion boards and this trade is getting flamed by the celtic faithful. I dont know how ainge doesnt have someone starting his car every morining or taking the first sip of his coffee. Theyre rough on him! They should be, Im not a fan of ainge either. When the first KG trade rumor broke, i had to go change my underwear.

KG

#5 pick
gerald green
al jeferson
telfair (didnt know he was still a celtic, thought he got booted)
ratliffs contract

i couldnt beleive this, and im glad KG stepped in and said he wouldnt have any of it. saving ainge frmo himself it seems.

...anyways, ray allen and allan ray on the same team! loving it! The best part of this deal is getting rid of wally, i couldnt be more excited to see him leave. You couple that with ratliffs expiring contract next season and you have 24 mil in free cap space to get a new centerpiece of the franchise in 2009 and pierce and allen can then be the complements to this new centerpiece. hmm, now i think about it.....jefferson will be askign for that money....but they can get a decent role player with the money left over from jefferson.

dicky v..... yeah that was creepy! he couldnt shut it about longoria. i guess there is something dicky v likes more than duke.
_________________________________________

my opinions and what to expect from a fantasy point of view.

oden-doesnt matter because im not goign to be the one who takes him in the 1st or 2nd round

durant-same reason, he'll go too soon. and theres too many players in seattle for the situation to be clear. i nkow durant will get his burn but i agree with you guys.

horford- the guy i want the most adn will be avail in the later rounds 9-11. i expect 12-9 on %50 shooting, maybe 6-7 FG att/game. all depends on the C eligibility like you said.

conley-dont want

jeff green-never saw him play, but ive heard he doesnt need the ball to be effective. soo......like green, ill pass

no one else i like besides acie law. but the offense runs through johnson in atlanta. id like to see law handling the ball. brevin knight was waived today.....atlanta would be a great fit in my opinion.
