Gilbert Arenas has been fined by the NBA for faking a knee injury to help get a teammate more playing time. That teammate was Nick Young. This is just anither stupid mistake by Arenas and should only be seen as just that.
Omri Casspi might find himself as a bench player this year. So far the Kings have started what seems to be everyone else at Forward but Casspi. A bench role could help preserve him through the entire season. He fell off in the last half of the the season last year probably from overexposure. Not so much oncourt but offcourt. He had a lot of appearances due to being the NBA’s first Israeli player. Maybe the Kings will learn from this.
Blake Griffin has been a beast so far in the preseason. With John Wall predicted by many to be the Rookie of the Year, Griffin is doing everything he can to put himself into contention. Griffin missed all of last year with a broken knee cap so he is still eligible as a Rookie.
Anthony Randolph is looking at a bench role to start the season. He hasn’t been consistent enough with his jumpshot so far in preseason. He should see plenty of minutes however. He has a chance to have a breakout year in Mike D’Antoni’s system as long as he can get a little more consistent with his shooting.

What the hell is going on here? Are the Washington Wizards thinking of changing their name back to the Washington Bullets? Everybody knows what has happened (or what has been speculated). Did Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton pull guns out on each other during a locker room argument or were they really just arguing over who has the “bigger gun”?
There are a few things about this idiotic situation that really stand out to me:
First of all, how dumb is Arenas to actually pull a gun out on a teammate, let alone while he is being investigated for having those guns in his locker in the first place?
Secondly, how stupid are the Wizards for allowing Arenas to keep the guns in his locker after the NBA and authorities decided to investigate him?
Third, How dumb is Crittenton for his role in this whole mess (brandishing a firearm, brandishing a firearm against a teammate, brandishing a firearm against a teammate when it is painfully obvious that he is not allowed to have guns in his locker)?
And lastly, how will the real Wizard, David Stern make this problem disappear?
There are a lot of problems with what is going on here but what I want to know is what level of punishment will these to clowns face? The NBA has been known to suspend players for fighting, for coming off of the bench to aid in a fight and in some cases coming off of the bench onto the court without even coming near the two fighters. And don’t forget about that special night with Ron Artest when he jumped into the stands to fight that fan that threw a beverage at him. Under normal circumstances this would be an in house fix like any other time two players get in a fight during or after practice. But this is the first time I can think of where weapons are involved.
Personally, I think that both men deserve jail time and indefinite suspensions from the League. This is absolutely ridiculous and these two need to be made an example of.

Now Gilbert Arenas is saying that it is the Wizards’ fault that he hasn’t been able to return from his injuries successfully. You have got to be kidding me!!! The nerve of this guy to come out and say what he has said about the Washington Wizards. If you don’t already know, Arenas is blaming the Wizards for letting him do what he wanted to do.
He actually believes that since he couldn’t restrain himself from trying to return to the court, the franchise player who wines about everything on his blog, the Wizards are the one to blame for his troubles returning to full time duties. Not himself, the diva who has to have everything his way or else. He pisses and moans until he gets things his way and now that somebody has been able to get it through his thick stubborn skull that rest is what he needed the entire time, he feels that he needs to blame his employer for what he did to himself.

Even though he has only played in 15 games over the last two seasons, there is reason to believe that Gilbert Arenas might be on his way back to dominance. When he was healthy, he was a player that would get you 25+ points per game, 4+ rebounds per game, 6 assists per game, almost 2 steals per game and close to 3 3pt per game. Those are numbers that you can’t ignore. Plenty of NBA players are even tweeting about how “Gilbert is back”.
He’s been seen shooting around and playing in pickup games and the most notable thing about it is that he has his explosiveness back. Plus, he’s doing it without a knee brace. That says a lot about how well he is recovering from two surgeries over the last two years.
So, what does this mean for fantasy owners? Well, it’s looking like Arenas will currently go somewhere around the fourth round in drafts this coming fantasy season. But, if the hype keeps coming, the stock will rise. I’m even hearing that he might move all the way up to the second round if the good news keeps coming. The second round might be too early but if you can get him in the mid to late third or early fourth round, you could have a serious first round talent on your team.
Be careful though because he is still a MAJOR injury risk. If you do draft him, make sure you have another option to replace him if he goes down. If someone wants to take him in the second round, good for them. You’ll just have one more safe option to choose from when your pick comes around.

As of now, Gilbert Arenas is a game time decision for the Wizards game on Saturday 3/28/09. He will most likely play sparingly and he will not play in back to back games for sure. He might have been worth owning this whole time in Head 2 Head leagues for the playoffs but it doesn’t look like he will have much of an impact. It would have been nice to see him play a couple weeks ago and get into better game shape before the fantasy playoffs began but the Wizards don’t really care about Arenas’ fantasy value I’m sure.
I don’t see him getting enough minutes the rest of the season to even consider starting him unless you are in a roto league and need scoring. You know that Arenas will take every shot possible when he returns to the court. This shouldn’t really do anything to any of the other Wizards and their stats because Arenas doesn’t look to be getting significant minutes. Personally, I don’t see why the Wizards are even putting him out there. The risk is much higher than the reward. They should just leave him on the bench and protect their franchise player until next year when they can start over fresh.

Now is the time to really dig deep and assess your fantasy roster. If you have an overwhelming lead in some categories, you might want to make a trade to bolster other categories that you might have a chance at moving up in. I like to take a look at my teams and evaluate what my strengths are and then search through the remaining teams and see who needs what I have.
Now you might not get fair value in return here because it is so late in the season and people are scared to give up big name players. You shouldn’t be thinking that way at all. Don’t be afraid to give up a Jason Kidd if you are dominating assists but need points. Or, don’t worry about losing Dwight Howard’s rebounds or blocks if you have a commanding lead in those categories. Remember, it’s not about who wins you the championship, but that you actually win it. Read the rest of this entry »

When will Gilbert Arenas return to the basketball court? That is the question that a lot of people are asking. Well, right now there is no answer to that question. No timetable has been set as to when he might return. Now, let’s say that he does return this season. What can we expect to get out of him from a fantasy standpoint? To be brutally honest, nothing.
If he actually decides to play at all this season, it will be in the manner that Elton Brand did last year. It will only be for a week or two and that means he is worthless when it comes to fantasy leagues. There really isn’t any reason for him to come back at all this year, fantasy or reality. Why take a chance at aggravating the injury just to play a few games for a team that is one of the worst in the league? Odds are he will shut things down for the rest of the season.
